Founded in 1983 by local running enthusiasts who wanted to share the beauty of the Grand Traverse Region and the Old Mission Peninsula, the Bayshore Marathon has become a “must run” for runners throughout the Midwest and beyond. Many runners return year after year to enjoy the scenic courses which run along the shores of beautiful Grand Traverse Bay. Bayshore events feature a 10K, half marathon and full marathon. To ensure a more enjoyable experience, the number of runners in all three races is limited. Bayshore races are held on Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend.
Course DescriptionOur out-and-back course starts at the backdrop of the Sunnahae Mountain at Craig High School (map) and heads north along the Klawock Channel, through the village of Klawock, turning left at the Native clan house, and proceeding along Boundary Road, which turns into Big Salt Lake Highway, and affords views of some of our most majestic lakes, clear streams, and muskeg areas. El Dorado Lake State Park. The race consists of three races; the SBA half marathon, 10K & 5K. Runners will use the Teter Nature Trail; along with a challenging single-track trail. The Full Marathon Course is certified as a Boston qualifier. Pacers will be provided for the Full and Half Marathon courses to help you meet your race goal.
From the starting line at the Events Center, where participants can warm up indoors, the race proceeds along city streets for the first 2 to 3 miles, before reaching the pedestrian bridge off Bryan Stock Trail, where the course enters the North Platte River Parkway.

The Deadwood Mickelson Trail Marathon is a point to point course, beginning in the hamlet of Rochford, the first 1.5 miles are on the road. At this point, the course becomes the Mickelson Trail. The next 12 miles are a mixture of gentle uphill and flat terrain. From there to mile 19 is downhill, From 19.6 to about 20, there is a serious downhill… it’s runable, but you have to be careful not to become a “runaway.” From this point to the end, the course is either downhill or flat and finishes at the historic Engine House at end of the line…the Deadwood Trailhead.

The Eugene Curnow Trail Marathon is run over rough woodland trails on a point-to-point course from the Spirit Mt. Ski Area near Duluth, MN to Carlton. The course encompasses one leg of the Minnesota Voyageur Trail Ultramarathon, plus a bit extra to equal 26.2 miles. Welcome to the website of the Grandfather Mountain Marathon! The marathon has been held each year (since 1969) during the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games, one of the largest Scottish Games in America.
But as 2020 taught us, we don’t KNOW what the race will have to look like. Once you are registered, or as you keep checking back through the year waiting to register, be aware that things may change quickly. This will be a special year, focused on overcoming challenges and returning to normal activity and gathering as a community of runners. First run in 1970, the Deseret News Marathon is the oldest road race in Utah and the 4th oldest marathon west of the continental divide. The marathon follows the path the Utah pioneers traveled when they first entered the valley. This event is truly a part of Utah’s heritage!
This USATF-certified, out and back marathon and half marathon is run at sea level on the lightly traveled, two-lane Douglas Highway in Juneau, Alaska. The scenic course offers views of mountains, glaciers, forests, and the ocean. The start/finish is near the picnic shelter at Sandy Beach, in Douglas, which is about 4 miles away from cruise ship docks in Downtown Juneau. Jack & Jill’s Downhill Marathon is a fast gentle downhill course on one of Washington’s most scenic trails. North Bend, WA is located just 31 miles east of Seattle. Runners are bused to Hyak from North Bend. After you pass through the Snoqualmie Tunnel, you can enjoy the next 23 miles down a gradual 2000 foot net drop down the John Wayne Trail on a hard-packed, shaded dirt/gravel road. “YES” you will be able to use your finish time to qualify for Boston or chalk up a new PR. Either way, this 26.2 mile journey is breathtakingly beautiful and sure to be a favorite.

Running along the fringe of the mysterious Area 51, this stretch of highway (375) has an overwhelming number of reported UFO sightings. So much so, that in 1996 the federal government officially named highway 375 the “Extraterrestrial Highway”. The ET Highway has become a gathering place for UFO enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. With elevations ranging from roughly 4000-5600 feet, the high desert will enchant you with gorgeous vegetation, surrounding mountains, and stunning vistas. An additional treat is the cooler temperatures. Rachel, NV is generally 15 degrees cooler than the Las Vegas Valley; coupled with a midnight run, temperatures should be in the 60’s in August!

North Bend, Washington State
One of the top trail 50 Mile Ultra, Marathon and Half Marathon’s in the country. Runners from 30+ states run each year in beautiful Northern Michigan.
All 3 races begin Saturday @ 7:00 a.m. in front of the pavilion at The Expedition Island. Elevation is 6100’ at start. The first 2 miles are city streets and the paved Greenbelt Trail along the Green River. The course then turns onto The Wild Horse Loop Tour Road, a County graded dirt road. You will begin your run up 1st Springs Canyon, approx. 2 miles. At the head of the canyon the elevation will now be about 7300’. You will then be running across the top of White Mountain on the Wild Horse Loop Tour over rolling hills between 7300 and 7500’. Previous runners described the course as challenging and rewarding.
Presented by Salomon Running, the Mid Mountain Marathon is a true trail runner’s marathon and is the final stage of the Triple Trail Challenge. The course starts at Silver Lake/Deer Valley through Park City Mountain Resort and then winds down through the Utah Olympic Park trail system to finish at the bottom of the Nordic jumps at the Utah Olympic Park. The Mid Mountain Marathon embodies the essence of mountain trail running with intermittent technical sections, a few sustained climbs and fast downhills. Voted best trial marathon in Utah!

The idea for the New England Green River Marathon was sparked by the exceptional beauty of the course itself, which follows nearly the entire length of the Green River from its headwaters in Marlboro, Vermont to its confluence with the Deerfield River in Greenfield, Massachusetts. It’s a favorite running spot for many local runners; we can’t think of a better place to run, and we’d like to share it with you! This is a small, rural, community race and isn’t a big money maker; to us it’s more about getting together to celebrate our love of the outdoors and running.
The East Canyon Marathon has four distances. Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K and 5K.
The Full Marathon starts overlooking Salt Lake City at the Big Mountain Pass at the top of Emigration Canyon and heads East. This course follows along pine trees, aspens and follows several miles along the East Canyon Reservoir. The Full joins Half Marathon about 3/4 around East Canyon Reservoir where the Half Marathons starts and then heads down Red Rock Canyon which has great views and landscapes and unique rock formations. Around Mile 20 of the race the course turns into farmland with beautiful fields of grain and cool barns. The 10K and 5K are out and back courses that start where all distances finish at the Morgan County Fairgrounds.

We ask that people social distance at least 10 feet while in the park and wait until 10 minutes prior to the start before selecting a wave. Your time will not start until you cross the start line. As you make your way from the wave to the start, please continue to social distance by 10 feet.

The “Big Apple” full marathon will begin at 7:00 a.m. at the start/finish line at the Elroy City Park (Schultz Park). The runners will run a short distance (100 yards or so) before leaving the park and head north into Elroy on the “400 Trail.” In Elroy, the runners will pass by the Elroy Commons and then run up 2nd Main Street, which includes a run over a scenic “covered bridge”, and then enter the Omaha Trail on the north edge of Elroy.
After about 7 miles, the runners will pass through a beautiful old railroad tunnel. The tunnel was built in 1876 and is 875 feet long! The runners continue north on the trail, passing through Hustler, until the turnaround which is about 2 miles north of Hustler. The return run is the same as the first half. About 90% of the
Fair on the Square uses town streets and rural roads in and around Hendricks County. There will be traffic control at intersections, but the roads will NOT be completely closed to all traffic. Half Marathon participants must be able to maintain a 16 minutes-per-mile pace.

The Pikes Peak Marathon, founded in 1956, is the oldest continually held marathon in the United States, taking runners from Manitou Springs, Colorado, to the summit of Pikes Peak at 14,115 feet, and back down for a total of 26.2 grueling mountain miles. It and its sister race, the Pikes Peak Ascent, each climb about 7,800 vertical feet up the historic Barr Trail on the east face of the mountain. The Ascent, which climbs 13.3 miles to finish at the summit, used to be held on the same day as the Marathon but became its own event in the 1980s due to its popularity.

In 2019, runners from 40 states and 14 countries ran the Hamptons. Runners of the marathon will start together with those running the half marathon and they will finish at the same finish line. The courses provide a flat, fast run through Southampton Village with views of the Atlantic Ocean and Shinnecock Bay.
The 2022 Shawnee Marathon and Half-Marathon will be returning on October 2. 2022. This is a few weeks sooner than the Marathon typically lands on. This was done so that the race would fall in conjunction with the City of Harrisburg Sasquatch Festival. This allows the City to close all of the necessary streets on one weekend as opposed to two weekends in the same month. It also provides a festival-style atmosphere for our finishers.

Here is some helpful information and important notes to understand about this year’s race. Registration and Race Day - This race will be much small than year’s past - capped at 1000 participants across the 4 events. - There will be staggered starts every 10 - 15 minutes, until all participants have gone through the start line. - All participants will be required to wear face coverings when social distancing is not possible, this means start, finish, aid stations, and any area along the course where runners are closer than 6 feet from each other. - The post- race will be minimal to avoid crowding.
The Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon is a USATF certified course starting at Grafton High School. This flat, scenic, point-to-point course travels south through rural countryside, quiet neighborhoods and finishes along the shores of Lake Michigan.
After a virtual-only event in 2020, the 2021 Gorham Savings Bank Maine Marathon, Half Marathon, and Relay returns to an in-person event, featuring an out-and-back course with rolling hills and views of the Portland skyline, the Back Cove, Casco Bay, and peak fall foliage. The races take place on the Bob Trail at Trap Pond State Park in Laurel, DE. The Trap Pond State Park is located at 33587 Baldcypress Lane, Laurel, DE 19956. The races start on the trail from different locations (please see race start locations on the map in the Parking section below) near the Bald Cypress Nature Center. All four races finish at the same location also near the Nature Center.
This is the original Skyline to the Sea Trail Run. The trail begins at Saratoga Gap, near Castle Rock State Park and descends from the Santa Cruz Mountains to the deep blue Pacific Ocean. Along the way you will encounter amazing views of the Monterey Bay, coastal and redwood forests, lush ferns, chaparral, exquisite sandstone formations, crystal clear waterfalls and the beauty of California wildflowers. This gorgeous venue is not to be missed.
The 2020 GAP Marathon and Half Marathon has been cancelled due to COVID-19. The plan is to return to Frostburg in 2022 to conduct the sixth edition of the GAP Marathon and Half on Wednesday September 28, 2022.
Both the marathon and half marathon will use 6.56 miles of the GAP and start at 8:00AM. This event will take place in its entirety in Maryland on the outstanding Great Allegheny Passage (GAP). The Arkansas Marathon is one of the oldest and most unique marathons in the South. The race is not crowded, parking is easy, and the scenery is great! In fact, you may even find yourself sharing the road with deer, turkey, squirrel and the odd rabbit or two. The road course takes you along the northern boundry of the Ouachita National Forest and is an out-and-back course.
The race also finishes in the middle of the local October Daze fall festival so your family and friends can shop, listen to music or just hang out while you run.
The Lakeside Marathon is joined by the Nevada Half Marathon at near Spooner Summit - the half way mark of the Lakeside Marathon course. Both of these courses end at Incline Village. The Lakeside marathon is basically run a few hundred yards in CA and 99.8% in NV, meaning it can be counted for either state in your quest to run all 50 states. This race is also the 2nd leg of the Tahoe Triple Marathon.

The race takes place on the paved Western Maryland Rail Trail. The start/finish is located on the Western Maryland Rail Trail just north of C&O Bicycle at 9 S Pennsylvania Ave Hancock, MD 21750. Join us for fun on a fast and scenic certified BQ course. The WMRT Marathon and Half Marathon are USATF Certified courses.
FALL FOLIAGE AND SWEEPING VISTAS
Run through fall foliage on the banks of the Columbia River at this destination marathon & half-marathon race. On course you’ll celebrate the sweeping vistas and impressive natural beauty of the Columbia River Gorge.
A century ago the Historic Columbia River Hwy was designed to highlight the impressive and breathtaking colors and views of the Columbia River Gorge. The once-great highway is now part paved trail, part small-town backroads.
Babbling streams will be your soundtrack as you challenge yourself on the lush singletrack within Bothe-Napa Valley State Park. The course is a bit challenging with the hills, streams and rocks - which makes it all the more exciting and rewarding. This state park is a local treasure that is untapped by tourists and located just minutes from the area’s great restaurants and wineries. The event is limited to 300 participants and sells out every year so don’t wait too long to register!
The Tecumseh Trail Challenge course provides a demanding route in Morgan-Monroe and Yellowwood State Forests, during the beautiful autumn colors of South-central Indiana.
The half marathon runs a short segment on the C&O Canal after leaving West Virginia across the Potomac. You then join the marathon course and run the hills of Antietam. After the Antietam tour you run through historic Sharpsburg to return over the Rumsey Bridge to Shepherdstown.

The Cleveland Marathon began in 1978 in an effort to bring a positive and meaningful fitness event to the City of Cleveland. It features a relatively flat and fast course and a scenic view of downtown Cleveland and its major landmarks. The course has been designed for our athletes to enjoy views of Lake Erie and many other diverse neighborhoods and Cleveland highlights for a complete tour of the city.
The Colorado Marathon is a gorgeous race held annually in Fort Collins, Colorado. The 2021 race has been postponed to the fall and will take place on October 23, 2022.
FAST, FLAT, and AFFORDABLE
We know you’ve heard that before! Well…in our case it is true. The total elevation for the Full Marathon is 59 feet. The total elevation for the Half Marathon is 40 feet. We are unique not only with our theme but with our course and price!
The Marathon will be a USATF Certified Course and a Boston Marathon Qualifier.
The Half Marathon will stay with the Marathon for the first 13 miles. It is a mix of blacktop and hard packed crushed limestone.

Our two-day Expo will showcase over 50 vendors, all with the goal of making your running experiences better. The course is flat and fast and USATF certified. It is a perfect course to run to qualify for Boston. Runners start on 3rd Avenue next to Joan C. Edward Stadium and run through downtown Huntington past Pullman Square, next to the Ohio River, and through Ritter Park among other places. The highlight is to run through Marshall University campus on their way to a goal-line finish in Marshall Football Stadium.

SCHEDULE OF RACES – A marathon and half marathon will be completed each day, Thursday through Sunday. All races begin at 8:30 a.m., except for Sunday (New Mexico), which starts at 8:00 a.m. There is no course limit and all runners will have the chance to finish the race each day. Each day will begin and end in one of the four states: Thursday will feature a marathon beginning and ending in Arizona; Friday is Utah. Saturday will be Colorado, while Sunday will begin and end in New Mexico. There are 80 slots
OURSE – [Courses for the races are subject to change, based upon the discretion of park officials, race organizers and the weather.] Each day’s race will begin and end in the same distinct state, offering runners a chance to complete four marathons in four states in four days.
