Founded in 1983 by local running enthusiasts who wanted to share the beauty of the Grand Traverse Region and the Old Mission Peninsula, the Bayshore Marathon has become a “must run” for runners throughout the Midwest and beyond. Many runners return year after year to enjoy the scenic courses which run along the shores of beautiful Grand Traverse Bay. Bayshore events feature a 10K, half marathon and full marathon. To ensure a more enjoyable experience, the number of runners in all three races is limited. Bayshore races are held on Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend.
Course DescriptionOur out-and-back course starts at the backdrop of the Sunnahae Mountain at Craig High School (map) and heads north along the Klawock Channel, through the village of Klawock, turning left at the Native clan house, and proceeding along Boundary Road, which turns into Big Salt Lake Highway, and affords views of some of our most majestic lakes, clear streams, and muskeg areas. From the starting line at the Events Center, where participants can warm up indoors, the race proceeds along city streets for the first 2 to 3 miles, before reaching the pedestrian bridge off Bryan Stock Trail, where the course enters the North Platte River Parkway.

The Deadwood Mickelson Trail Marathon is a point to point course, beginning in the hamlet of Rochford, the first 1.5 miles are on the road. At this point, the course becomes the Mickelson Trail. The next 12 miles are a mixture of gentle uphill and flat terrain. From there to mile 19 is downhill, From 19.6 to about 20, there is a serious downhill… it’s runable, but you have to be careful not to become a “runaway.” From this point to the end, the course is either downhill or flat and finishes at the historic Engine House at end of the line…the Deadwood Trailhead.

Throughout the year the Southern Timing Foundation and other organizations host a number of races during the year. After each race, we are faced with the question what do we do with all the leftover shirts and medals? This is why we started the Leftover 5K!
What swag will I receive?
We have collected shirts and medals from races all over and you get to choose your shirt and your medal! At packet pick-up there will be a station for each t-shirt size and you will be able to select the shirt that you like! Once you cross the finish line you will be able to select whatever medal you like!

The Cellcom Green Bay Marathon course is considered to be fast and flat, by race industry comparisons. The marathon will leave the stadium district and continue through Ashwaubenon. Once runners arrive back in the stadium district they will make their way to the players tunnel and inside historic Lambeau Field to complete a lap around the field before finishing in the shadows of the stadium.
