The course is coned and marked very well, but it is open to traffic. There will be volunteers or police officers at most intersections. Please remain on the LEFT side of the road unless otherwise directed. Because the course is open to traffic, we recommend that all participants wear bright clothing to improve visibility.
We are still in the midst of a global pandemic so we ask that you wear a mask and social distance when you are not running. Please use the hand sanitizer that is provided and stay home if you are sick.

Description: The Sandhills Marathon begins near the west end of the Brownlee Road, where it meets Highway 97, between Mullen and Valentine. The Road, a one-lane blacktop, winds southeast through the Wamaduze Valley until it reaches the town of Brownlee (unincorporated), then runs east along the north bank of the North Loup River. This is one of the most beautiful marathon routes in New England. The course starts at the campus of the Marlboro Music Festival in the Green Mountains of Vermont, follows the Green River as it flows down toward the Connecticut River, and ends at Greenfield Community College in Greenfield, Massachusetts. El Dorado Lake State Park. The race consists of three races; the SBA half marathon, 10K & 5K. Runners will use the Teter Nature Trail; along with a challenging single-track trail. Depending on rainfall expect some wet and muddy crossings. Of course, you will have to “storm up” the dam! Grassy moderate rolling hills of the Boulder Bluff horse trail await you next, work your way through the Walnut Ridge Trail before crossing the finish line near the amphitheater.

The North Olympic Discovery Marathon takes place on the beautiful Olympic Peninsula in Washington State.
The event hub is downtown Port Angeles and all event activities are within walking distance. Downtown offers hotels, restaurants, shopping, entertainment, and access to the waterfront.

Here you will find information that will help you plan for this event. The Swan Lake Marathon and shorter races are held in cooperation with Swan Lake Christian Camp. After expenses all the proceeds from the Swan Lake Marathon and other races go towards Swan Lake Christian Camp’s general fund. Donations can also be made towards camper scholarships. Not all children can afford coming to camp and Swan Lake will never turn someone away. The parents are told to pay what they can and the monies from camper scholarships cover the difference.

The Deadwood Mickelson Trail Marathon is a point to point course, beginning in the hamlet of Rochford, the first 1.5 miles are on the road. At this point, the course becomes the Mickelson Trail. The next 12 miles are a mixture of gentle uphill and flat terrain. From there to mile 19 is downhill, From 19.6 to about 20, there is a serious downhill… it’s runable, but you have to be careful not to become a “runaway.” From this point to the end, the course is either downhill or flat and finishes at the historic Engine House at end of the line…the Deadwood Trailhead.
The Half Marathon is also a point to point course, starting at the 13.1 mile mark of the full marathon, and follows the marathon course described above, also finishing at the historic Engine

The Grandfather Mountain Marathon has been held each year (since 1969) during the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games, one of the largest Scottish Games in America.
The marathon begins at Kidd Brewer Stadium in Boone, NC at 6:30 am at an elevation of 3,333 feet and climbs to an elevation of 4,279 feet where it ends on Grandfather Mountain in Linville, NC. The course is mountainous and very scenic as it winds through the Blue Ridge Mountains. The course is run predominately on asphalt (3 miles of the course is on gravel). The race will finish at McRae Meadows during the Highland Games, the 2nd largest Highland Games in the world. So make sure you look good at least at the finish in front of those 5,000+ spectators!
